I woke up today and my right ear ached as well as my right jaw by the ear and the top, right, front part of my head. It is not really painful but every 10 minutes i feel a small surge in pain for a few seconds and then calms back down. Any ideas and also the seriosness of this? I just started working for a company that refuels aircarft at a major international airport and it can be extremely noisy at times, however i dont think this is the cause because i often wear hearing protection. Also my benifits dont kick in for another 6 weeks and i dont make a lot of money. please help me on what could be causing this and the importance/severity of these symptoms.
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query. The pain in the jaws and ears can be because of the disc displacement in the TMJ this can occur secondary to stress or malocclusion or bruxism. The other possible cause can be secondary to wisdom tooth infection. Nothing to be panic, consult a oral physician and get a radiograph done to confirm the diagnosis. If it is a disc displacement in TMJ, you can take tablet piroxicam and you should not open you mouth too wide, and take soft diet. If it is an infected wisdom tooth, take a course of antibiotics like amoxicillin and metronidazole and get the tooth removed. I hope my answer will help you, take care.
