Why Are My Arms And Head Swollen?

Diagnosed with furing of the c3,c4 joints in 1998, when I lift heavy items within 12 to 24 hours esp. when I sleep I feel I cannot move, arms feel swollen, head feels like swollen (like foggy); I do take anti inflamatory tablets to control symptoms. Q:is this serious, is condition worsening?

Hi, thanks for posting your concern in the HCM.
You are having high cervical radiculopathy symptoms, which is probably due to degenerative condition.
Conservative management may be tried for pain and stiffness management. After controlling pain symptoms, you may try exercises to modify the disease condition.
However, as the degeneration process continues, the symptoms may progessively increased and you may need to undergo decompression surgery e.g. ACDF. Different surgical treatment options are available depending upon the disease condirion.
You may consult your local Spine surgeon to know whether conservative measures would suffice. An MRI of C spine may be required.
For any further information, please write back..
