Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of gastric problem for 12 years and taking Histac 150 which you have stopped for the last 6 months. Now have developed pain in stomach, heartburn, back-ache and nerve pain, wants to know whether this is side effect of Histac and whether this can be continued.
Since you have taken Histac and stopped it 6 months ago, this does not look to be side effect of Histac.
The problem looks to be as follows:
15 years is a long time to suffer from the same problem.
This indicates that either there is a functional element like stress and/or anxiety, food habits, water and beverages that you take or organic problem like some tumors like Gastrinoma or so causing the excessive acid secretion along with hiatus hernia which can cause GERD and heartburn.
I would advise you the following:
Start/continue Histac to get the relief first.
Urgent upper GI Endoscopy, manometry studies, H. pylori test to get to the cause of this.
Ultrasonography of the abdomen particularly for the gall bladder, pancreas, liver and tumors or so and to confirm by Contrast enhanced CT scan if necessary.
Additional management includes:
Stop the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems.
Control of stress and anxiety by all the means.
Further management as per the causes found on investigations .
