Why Am I Feeling The Need To Cough While Taking Deep Breath?

Every time I take a deep breath, I feel the need to cough. It is a nonproductive cough most of the time, and a few times I expel yellow mucus. I have never experienced coughing this frequently before. I have no other symptoms (fever, body aches, runny nose, etc) what could this be?
