Why Am I Missing Bowel Movement After Breast Augmentation?
I had a breast augmentation on Thursday and I havnt had a bowl movement since then! they have given me colace along with all my medication and I have been taking it faithfully but still have not had the urge to go! and I am not costipated it just feels like I dont need to go! but it has been 4 days already! Should I be worried?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Breast augmentation is usually done under general anesthesia and thus needs further course of medications like antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications and as needed , which in turn can give the symptoms of inability for the feeling to pass motion or so. I would advise you the following: Discuss with your Doctor or a Nurse to get stop the medications like anti-inflammatory medications or painkillers as they can cause such symptoms. HAve full normal diet as changed or reduced diet can change the bowel habit and alter the feeling of the need to pass bowel movements. Take a Laxative and high fibers to get the feeling and some medications like picosulphate help for having the feeling to have motion.
