Why am I having such high BP ?

I am a 15 Year Old male, I weigh about 116 lbs. I have been checking my blood pressure lately and it's been showing 147 over 80. No one in my family has any genetic High or low blood pressure. I checked my Hemoglobin which showed up to be normal. I also took a urine test, everything normal. I am guessing this is the after affects of stress, because about 7 months ago my cousin died of suicide and I was very anxious and stressed, I even had a panic attack. Right now my doctor told me to monitor my blood pressure twice everyday for a month and that is what I am doing and the results have been betetr since they are about 138 over 80.

Well, you are a pediatric (child) patient. Who are you seeing for this? A normal doctor?? You should be seeing a Pediatric Nephrologist, which is a kid's kidney doctor. You are probably thinking why you would see a kidney doctor instead of a heart doctor.. well usually and almost always when pediatric patients have high BP it is related to something to do with the kidneys. Therefore, pediatric nephrologist have the knowledge to handle pediatric high blood pressure (hypertension). Are you on medicine for this? This is not extremely high BP but is high enough to allow treatment. Show your mom what this says or mention it to your doctor because you should be evaluated for kidney troubles and if you have a heart murmur, heart troubles also. I do not mean to scare you but I don't agree with this treatment plan. You could be completely fine. High blood pressure is NEVER diagnosed off of 1 blood pressure reading. They need to be taken for at least one week to see if they are over 120/80, which is normal. Anything that goes over 130/80 will likely need treatment if it does not take care of itself. Anxiety and stress does not cause constant high blood pressure but only during the time you are experiencing the mental status. Have a good one.
