White bumpy lines in outer and inner thighs. Due to weight gain or weight loss? How to get rid of them?

So, for a couple of years now I d have these lines in my outer and inner thighs and just at the hip. I don t THINK they re stretch marks . On my skin they re kind of white, and not bumpy, but more like lined in, like a scar , but not exactly. I m not sure how to explain it. Anyway, I ve been told it might be because of fast gain weight or loss of weight, but is there a way to get rid of them?

Dear Lester, Much as you do not wish to label these lesions stretch marks, they seem every bit so. Striae dystensiae or stretch marks in common parlance may arise as a result of sudden weight gain or loss. Various topical creams claim to be effective & different dermatologists recommend different products & one needs to be seen by a dermatologist to be assessed. Having said that, there are a newer generation of lasers that work brilliantly in certain instances..again, one needs to be seen & evaluated for best results. Perhaps a combination of the two is the best way forward. All the best & do visit your dermatologist. Cheers
