There is risk of congenital anomalies in babies in pregnant women who are >35 yrs. It is advisable to take folic acid supplemets in diet before conception to reduce such risk. Leafy green vegetables (like spinach and turnip greens), fruits (like citrus fruits and juices), and dried beans and peas are all natural sources of folate. Omega fatty acids and antioxidants like vitamin E and C ll be very helpful. Take care.
