What other over the counter antihistamines beside Claritin can be taken by someone taking Coumadin to control blood clots My son is 38 years old, about 200 lbs and 5 8 tall. He takes Coumadin to prevent blood clots due to Protein S deficiency . He takes Lexapro and Losartin in addition to Coumadin. What OTC antihistamines can he take that will not cause his blood pressure to be too high or or cause heavy bleeding ?

Hi Ms. Wax,

He can take any over the counter antihistamines with cetirizine and fexofenadine. Be careful not to take combination antihistamines with pseudoephedrine, that would increase his blood pressure.
