When Should A New Pack Of Birth Control Pill Be Started?

Hi, I am a first time birth control user and is a bit confused as to when I should begin the pack. So my period is supposed to begin tomorrow (however I always have the most irregular cycle so I m not sure it will). My question is can I start taking the pill today (Friday) or wait until my period comes?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
You have to wait for the period to come because you have unprotected sex then pregnancy can be ruled out.

you are supposed to start the new pack as soon as your next "period" begins, not ends, even if it came at the wrong time.
As long as you take the pills daily at a specific time , and don't miss any, you should be safe.
If you miss more than two days of your birth control pills, immediately start a new pack of pills and throw out the old one. Your menstrual cycle should come at the end of the pack that you took correctly and completely.
Avoid stress, take healthy diet, drink plenty of water and do regualr exercise
Hope this may help you
