Recently, i went for a gyne check up and she gave me primolut n 10 mg to be taken twice a day for 5 days because of 2 months missed periods. At this rate, I started to take last june 10 in the evening and had completed it last 15 thursday morning. Furthermore, until now I am still waiting for my period to come out. I just want to know if there is something wrong in proper taking the medication?thanks

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. Primolute n pills , when stopped after taking them twice a day , for 5 days...(and I hope you had taken it properly)induces withdrawal bleeding within 8-10 days of stopping (provided the cause of delay in menses was notdue to pregnancy.) If you don't have periods within the scheduled time ... you should get tested for pregnancy &if it's +ve.. should terminate it for promolute n is likely to cause abnormality in baby. If it is not pregnancy .. nor you had bleeding after withdrawal of Primolute... you need expert gybecologist's consultation &array of hormonal assessments to know the cause .. followed by specific treatment. Thanks.
