When Can He Expect The Result Of TURP Surgery?
My husband is 75 years old, very active, working out 3 days a week, in a good health. He stopped urinating on June 29 and went to ER. Only on July 24 he underwent a TURP surgery (Was on catheter all this time). Now is two weeks after the surgery. He has bleeding, but he was able to urinate OK for a few days. Yesterday is has stopped and he is back on catheter. Why is it happening and when can he expect the result of the operation? What should be done?

I am Dr Ali and I am a urologist.
I usually remove catheter in my patients within 3-5 days of surgery ,Patients are able to pass urine after removal of catheter.
In your husband's case I think there is post TURP infection that is the reason there is bleeding.
Hope it will settle down. you should consult your urologist he may suggest admission in hospital and Injectable Antibiotics.
