Whats The Cause For Stomach Pain Below Rib Cage?

my stomach hurts, right below my rib cage. it's been hurting on and off for 5 days now. it's not a gasy, bloaty pain, but it is a sharp pain. and it feels like someone is squeezing my stomach really really hard. the pain comes and goes, but when it does hurt, it hurts REALLY BAD...and i don't have a fever, nor have i thrown up, so I don't know what's wrong.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
The '''squeezing type'' of pain is usually seen in cases of colitis, particularly the transverse colon is involved. So other tests will be negative. Take anti-spamodic medicines along with antibiotics and metronidazole.

Nausea is not much known in such cases, as there will be no fever and vomiting.
Right below the rib cage is the area for transverse colon.
