What Treatments Are Suggested For Diverticulitis?

I was diagnosed with diverticulitis a year ago. Im supposed to be taking fiber twice a day. Two weeks ago my lifs got a bit hectic, new job, ects..so I didnt take any fiber until 3 days ago. Since I started back on the fiber regiment Ive notice I have bloody stools or what appears to be. I was told that having diverticulitis this would be normal from time to time but its been everytime I have used the rr. Not sure if its because of the build up of the tweeks and the straining but its never been like this.

Hi, I have read your query & understood your concern.
Diverticulosis is inflammation of pouches ( diverticuli)in intestinal wall. The fiber diet helps clearing of the divertculus & thus avoids chance of inflammation.
You had skipped the fiber diet 2 weeks back,had lot of stress ( physical/psychological)-must hve lead to irregular meals- every thing resulted in aggravation of inflammation probably superseeded by infection-thats why your present symptoms.
* In such condition you need to have liquid nurishious diet so as to let the intestines rest.
* consult you doctor & get advice for the suitable antibiotic & anti inflammatory drug(Acetoaminophen & a combination of norfloxicin ( with metrogyl if indicated) as per health assessment)
* gradually switch over to normal diet with fibers as relief gained.
