Thanks for posting your query.

Sinus infection or sinusitis is due to an inflammation in the nasal and sinus cavities. It can present with cough, heaviness, head ache, nasal congestion etc.

For the symptoms to get better, the inflammation or infection should be reduced, drainage should be established, and infection treated. To manage, the following measures can be taken:

1. Increase the drainage from the sinuses by taking a hot drink or steam inhalation with plain hot water or add mentholated vicks to it.

2. For headache you can take Tab. Paracetamol 10mg/kg body weight. If you weigh around 60 kg you can take Paracetamol 500mg in the mornings.

3. Nasal sprays are now available which help in clearing the sinuses. You can try brands like Nasivion or Oxyspray. But these should be used only for three or four days.

4. The main thing is to treat any infection and this can be best done by your doctor, who will prescribe the required antibiotics in the correct dosages.

Hope you get well soon
