What Treatment Is Suggested For Gastro Intestinal Reflux And Constipation?

I had an endoscopy on May 9th and was told that I had gastro intestinal reflux inflammation. So I m taking omerprazole DR 20. Since the 18th I have been having loose bowel movements and slight pain in the middle stomach area. I am often constipated so this is strange for me. Do you think that this current medication could be aggrevating the colon?

Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of getting diagnosed as gastro intestinal reflux, started on Omeprazole DR 20 and then started with loose motions and slight pain in the middle stomach area.
Yes, Omeprazole DR can cause the mild pain in abdomen and loose stools by its untoward side effect.
I would advise you the following:
Stop Omeprazole DR 20.
Watch for the improvement or not. Get the stool checked for any infection, if present get treated by an antibiotic and see the results.
If the loose stools were due to infection continue with Omeprazole DR 20.
If not stop this medication and get started on Ranitidine , another medication to reduce acidity by other mode of action , not causing any problems I suppose.
You also have to take care of other points as follows:
Small frequent meals of soft and bland diet.
Reduce the stress and anxiety.
Early to bed.
No alcohol and smoking.
Search for instigating or enhancing factors and avoid them altogether.
