What Treatment Is Needed After Getting Hit On Head From Falling?

I hit the back of my head from falling on the ice 60 hours ago. Went to my family doc and he saw no signs to be concerned about. Swelling has gone down a little, but still have a dull headache. Never lost consciousness, do. It have blurred vision and no vomiting. When is a CAT scan necessary to determine if there is any dangerous bleeding? How long do I have to watch for related symptoms?

Hello dear,

The following facts need to be considered:
1. A duration of 60 hours have elapsed since you had a fall.
2. The swelling has reduced, only a dull headache is present.
3. There is no associated symptoms which indicate increased intra cranial pressure such as vomiting, blurring of vision or loss of consciousness.
4. Your family doctor has denied the presence of any signs to be concerned of.

In view of the above, it can be assumed that there is no indication of any dangerous bleeding intra-cranially.
However, it will be better to keep a close watch for another 12 hours.
If there is any aggravation of headache or appearance of above mentioned symptoms, it will be beneficial to seek a medical help.
Under such circumstances, a proper clinical+ radiological evaluation will be needed to rule out any pathological cause for symptoms.

Till then, maintain adequate hydration & nutrition status.
Take care.
