What To Do For The Pain In The Lower Abdomen And The Ribs?

I am 56 and have just been diagnosed with a compression fracture of the T12. I was in the shower doing a cat stretch with hands on knees when my back locked . I hadn t done anything more strenuous apart from tennis the day before. Osteoporosis and even possible tumours have been mentioned but I can t get to see my GP until next week. I have had this pain now for 2 1/2 weeks with pain radiating to the lower abdomen just above the pelvic bone and also into my ribs.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi
You may consult a spine doctor or an orthopedics surgeon.compression fracture has to be treated preferably with a spinal brace immobilization alongwith anti inflammatory medicines for few days...this has to heal with avoiding forward bending, and avoiding weights ..You can obtain over the counter pain medicines like advil or Tylenol for relief till you get appointment for prescription meds.Avoid all movements, bending ,especially..
Best wishes
