What To Do For The Frequent Hiccups?

Hi My one year old has been hiccuping quite a lot today.she has never had any reflux issues and it really doesn t seem to be bothering her. They go away after a few minutes but I do wonder what may be causing it. Tonight I noticed it happened after dinner....should I get it checked out or is this normal?

Hi ! I have gone through your question and I understanf your concern .

Hiccup are normal in babies , nothing to concern about when they don't have any other symptons ( for acid reflux) and don't bother the child

They are sudden contraction of the diafragm muscles caused by stimulation of this muscle .This happens often from feeding the baby , especially when the baby eat fast , or whwn they cry the air can go to the stomach and stimulate the diafragm .
Let you child to be calm by himself .
Head the baby slow, whithout distraction.

If the you see that the hiccup gets more often after 1 year old , if it's bothering and irritate , if interfier in sleeping or while eating , it that don't go by themself last long ( 2-3 hours) ,.Call your treating doctor , he will prescribe a herbal medication to help .And for further evaluation .
