Hi, I got blood drawn for tests two days ago, and because I have small veins they had to insert the needles in three different spots. Today I noticed that in the area on and located very closely around each spot which they inserted the needle, small reddish bumps had formed, about 4-5 at two spots and one at the third. They kind of resemble a mix of acne and bug bites. Is this common and will it naturally go away soon?
Hi. As per your case history you are having irritant dermatitis at site of injection. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
