Hi thanks for contacting HCM... Noted you have only 5 days cough... Cause has to be searched for and accordingly treated ...Don t directly jump over antibiotic.... First if you have associated headache , mild fever and congestive symptom then cause could be viral flu or allergic cough.... For that CBC can be done which might show lymphocytosis in viral and eosinophilia in allergic causes..... Benadryl like antihistaminic useful for it . If you have acid reflux disease then also dry cough can occur.... For that omeprazole can be taken.... If dry cough remain persistent then bronchitis or other lung problems ruled by chest x ray and spirometry if needed... If weight loss and anorexia present with fevet then tuberculosis ruled out by sputum examination .... Take care... For dry cough herb product like extract of pine shoots helpful...
