I have had a fever for 11 days- no other symptoms except a slight neck ache- my fever has never gone over 101* - I saw a Dr, he prescribed 500mg amoxociillin 3x a day. have been on that for 3 days and still fever exists. I have been taking tylenol (2) 325mg x 4x a day..any other ideas?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Fever is part of the inflammatory response and may occur in viral, bacterial, fungal or parasitic infection.

The presence of a slight pain in the neck would not clearly determine the source of the infection.

Since the fever is persisting despite the use of antibiotics, you may need to consider screening. This would consist of a full blood count and ESR (checks for inflammation in the body).
Urine tests and possibly imaging may also be needed.

I hope this helps
