What To Do For Bump On The Back Of The Tongue?

I have been dealing with a bump on the back of my tongue for the past few days. I am at the tail end of sinus infection. Will it go away on it's own? Is there anything I can do? I smoke, but saw a peridontist a week ago and he did not find anything when he checked on my tongue. This is driving me crazy because it makes me gag and cough til my ribs hurt,

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain the bump at the back of the tongue can be inflamed Circumvallate papillae and as you already have a history of having sinus infection there might be post nasal drip and it can cause infection and inflammation of the Circumvallate papillae present at the back one third of tongue and it gets inflamed due to closed proximity with the throat..
Nothing to worry, continue taking the medications like antibiotics that are given to you by your treating physician and along with it do warm saline gargles and take anti-inflammatory medicine like Naproxen or Diclofenac potassium for relieving inflammation..
Soda bicarb gargles will also help..
If there is pain you can also apply Lignocaine gel over the bump..
Just relax as it seems nothing serious..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
