What Tests Should Be Done To Diagnose For TB?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...my son just test positive for TB test based on size of reaction...20 mm. Had chest x-ray and all is clear, what else should be done to ck to see if he has TB. Is is currently a nursing student

As your son in not having and sign or symptoms and in spite of this he had Mantoux's test positive.
Possibilities may be that FALSE +VE test due to rubbing of tested site or due to other immunosuppressive .
Other tests are blood for C B C , E S R ( if very high i.e.>100 mm of 1st hour highly suggestive of some chronic infectious or tuberculosis ).
Sputum for A F B .
Sputum for culture and sensitivity test .
If sputum is not producing take it with the help of nasal tube .
Bronchoscopy is also important for diagnostic purposes.
One more X RAY for Chest .
Polymerase Chain reaction test is also an important tool for diagnostic purposes.
So consult CHEST & TUBERCULOSIS specialist and get his opinion.
