What Test Is Recommended For Constant Cough In A Smoker?
Hi. My husband is a smoker for 20 years. He has been attempting to quit for the past 2 years. I ve noticed that he s had a cough that do not seem to go away. It doesn t occur all the time but I do notice him cough at least once a day. When asked about it, he shrugs it off and claims his throat was just dry. I m worried that there might be a pending health issue. Should he get his coughing / throat checked? And what type of testing is recommended to mention to our PCP.

This is a smokers coug/hack that is a common symptom seen with smokers due to irritation of the throat mucosa by the smoke particles. Washing the mouth and throat garglse and stopping to smoke gets rid of this. he could also be looked at by an ENy doctor to see there is no growth etc in his throat. But very less chance
