What Should Be Normal Cholesterol And AST Level In A Child?

Hi! I just found out that my 10 year old son has Triglycerides at 157, Cholesterol Total of 175, an AST level of 41, and an ALT Level of 61. Are these considered very high levels or is he okay? What kind of diet should I put him on to bring down these numbers to normal range?

Hi
Don't worry as the values are not very high. I would recommend you to go for lifestyle changes and dietary modification. This includes outdoor activities and games, protein rich diet which is low in carbohydrates and fats but fibre rich. Ensure plenty of oral intake of water daily. Try reducing weight if the child is obese. Recheck the values after 3 months.

Hopefully this will help him.
Take care
