What Should Be Done For Getting Rid Of Ice Pick Headache Which Affects Twice A Year?

I get ice pick headaches about twice a year. They last for about a week. I see a neurologist, who has placed me on Topomax daily. I also take a Medrol dose pack (6 day) during these events. Nothing helps, other than time, rest and Aleve. What else can I do? My MRI was negative.

Neurologist 's  Response
Dear
I am sorry for the symptoms you are suffering
I read your query and understand your concern
Topamax is a good medication to dominate frequency and as your attacks happens twice a year and MRI is normal your don't have reason to worry too much
In my opinion you can use triptans to dominate attacks (such as sumatriptan)
Discuss with your doctor about my opinion
They are migraine attacks so you have to deal with them, thay can bother you but at least those cant put you at risk
Hope my answer will help you
Stay healthy
Best regards
