What Precautions Should Be Taken To Slow Down The Rate Of Otosclerosis Prior To Pregnancy?
I have otosclerosis and wear hearing aids which I cope well with. I understand this is a progressive condition. I am planning to start a family in next year or two and have read that preganancy hormones can make condition worse. I need to be able to continue working full time. Is there anything I can do to slow the rate of hearing loss and also are there any precautions I can take prior to getting pregnant to prevent my hearing getting worse. Many thanks for your advice Sarah from England.
hello. most of the times otosclerosis dies down with time , however pregnancy does aggravate it. unfortunately you cant prevent this completely, however you can take medicines to make the focus more mature so that the progression is reduced. these medicines have some side effects and should be taken under supervision, please discuss with your ENT doctor, he will guide you further.thanks
