What Other Than Insulin Is There To Control Sugar ?

57 yr old female, down to 183 wt.. Diagnosed w/diabeties, high cholestorol, high BP (high pulse - over 100), high potassium. Am on meds & lots of vitamins (e, Q10, D3, cinnamon, niacin, fiber, etc). I have cut way back on potatoes (fav. food) & all processed sugar. Optomitrist told me yesterday diabeties is starting to effect my vision. This week my sugar is still almost 300. I am also under a lot of strees between family & work. I hate to think of using insulin. What else can I do?

Hi,thanks for query.Primary goal of treating diabetes is to prevent complication and have a smooth control either with medicines or injections. When optimum dose of drugs is given and still sugar not in control the best way is go for insulin. In diabetic patients the pancreas cells are exhausted and partially destroyed. In order to give them rest and help them recover at times insulin is required. Please do not shy away from it,it is a wonderful drug. And will save you from complications.Stress is a very important factor from control, please try to balance it.bye.
