I need to find out what kind of dr would I need to get as I am unable to carry a baby and my niece wants to carry for my husband an I. As I have had a lot of medical issues, she has offered an egg of her own as well. When I called a fertility doctor here to see if he could do it he said that they couldn t. All we need is artificial insemination, so what is the problem with what we want to do? And whom do we see to make it happen?

Hi and welcome to health care magic.

I completely understand your problem.

Unfortunately there are legal issues involved with this kind of procedure and the law is different in different countries. So you must first find an infertility specialist who deals with infertility issues in your country and also has an infertility set up meaning an IUI lab at least. You must discuss the legal aspects with him and have things clarified.

The procedure after this would be to monitor the growth of the egg in your niece by ultrasonography until it is ready to ovulate [get released]. At that time an injection HCG would be given to her to help in ovulation and your husbands semen will be processed in a lab at that time and then it will be directly instilled inside the uterus by the doctor. So this will help her in getting pregnant. More than one cycle of this process may be needed to get pregnant. She will carry the pregnancy and will have to deliver the baby. So you need to discuss all these issues with her and your husband also.

I hope you understand the procedure. Please contact an infertility specialist near you with a infertility lab setup and I also suggest that you discuss this with a lawyer as some paper work is needed to make it legal.

Hope this was helpful.
Thanks for using HCM.
