What Might Be The Reason For A 2yr 9mth Old Baby To Have Severe Cough And Lung Infection Without Being Tested Positive For Mountex Test ?

2 year 9 months baby was suffering with seviour cough from last 23 days.Mountex test is negative and increases lung infection over 4 days of antibiotic dosage.what is the disease.

Severe cough for 23 days is something very disturbing. Possibiity is 1)pertusis 2) pertusoid like infection 3) any congenital malformations.
For pertusis the treatment is azithromycin , as per child s weight.
Pertusoid like infection is usually viral so no special treatment.
A chest CT can reveal if any congenital malformation causing cough.
