What Medication To Take For Enlarged Tonsil?

Hi I went to the doctors last night and he said my right tonsil was very enlarged and gave me clarithromycin. While I don't expect this to work immediately, my symptoms have worsened a lot. I can't sleep, I haven't eaten since Christmas morning, any attempts to drink anything result in it being coughed back up repeatedly, I have to spit my saliva out instead of swallowing (it is also discolored), I cant open mouth to talk properly, and it is now quite painful to breathe. As a result I am exhausted, hungry and dehydrated. What would you suggest I do please?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
hello

i would recommend that you rush to the hospital immediately as i think you may have developed a peri tonsillar abscess , for which clarithromycin may not work so effectively and you will need supervised medical care.
please dont delay and meet your doctor immediately

Thanks
