What Medication Is Suggested For Possibility Of Having Anorexia?

My name is Lee, I'm a 21 year old female. I'm 5'2.5" and weight 82.6lbs. I don't keep meals down anymore at all, in fact I binge and purge 1-2 times a day. After which I'm usually extremely weak and tired and have to lay down or nap. I also exercise (cardio and calisthenics) for 30mins to an hour and a half a day. I do not take any vita mins or supplements.

I've lost a lot of physical strength and energy. My skin is getting very dry. I have dizzy spells. (especially after purging) My hair isn't really falling out in clumps but it doesn't grow much and has thinned out. I get slight chest pains during exercise. Joint pains, mainly in my right hip or ankles.

I know I am Anorexic, but undiagnosed. I haven't been to a doctor in years and I'm worried about getting a physical/checkup, as to what to expect? Will I have to be hospitalized based on just that info, or wait for testing? I'm nervous and unsure if I should go or if my condition is that serious. I know I have a problem, that I am sick, but I don't feel so sick as to be hospitalized as family members have wanted.

Hi Lee, it sounds like your situation is quite serious. The symptoms that you are describing are very concerning for your body not having enough nutrition (thinning of your hair, chest pains with exercise, joint pains, dry skin) and my recommendation at present is in agreement with your family, that you seek emergent medical care and possibly hospitalization. Heart failure is a very real possibility and a potentially life threatening complication in anorexic patients. Your doctor would work with you to help get you healthy again and to work with you through your concerns as well. I wish you all the best and hope my answer was helpful for you.
