Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of stomach aches at night for the last three months which was diagnosed as IBS by your GP,
heavy periods in last 3 months but now spotting, had brown discharge on intercourse 6 months ago which GP said to be due to soft
cervix due to birth control pills.
Well, you can certainly get an opinion of a Gynecologist and go ahead as suggested.
As for IBS, I would advise you the following:
I would advise the following investigations and treatment in a such a case:
Investigations:
*Routine blood investigations like Complete blood picture, blood sugar, urea,
creatinine, liver function tests,
thyroid function tests.
*Urine -routine and microscopy
*Stool: routine, microscopy, occult blood, culture and sensitivity. To be done on three consecutive days
*
Ultrasonography of abdomen,
*
Colonoscopy *
CT scan of the whole abdomen.
All these investigations should be within normal limits for one to say you have IBS.
Treatment:
''STRESS'' = stress is the most important cause of IBS. Please remember and you must have observed that when you do not have stress your problem with IBS is reduced
Change of lifestyle.
I think 'may be' you are not coping with something.
Vacation outside of your area, mobiles phones to be off.
You must have noticed already that these changes help a lot.
Try to avoid anything which you are / have to do against your will and wish. Get into the hobbies which make you forget the world around you.
