What Medication Is Suggested For Fever(100F) And Headache ?

I am a nursing mother of a 5 month old. I am having fever at 100F and headache due to cold weather. I have taken 4 doses of crocin in 6hr intervals, but the fever returns every 5th hr and my headache hasnt gone. Can i take a disprin with my next dose of crocin? Should i graduate to nimulid?

Hello,
I have gone through the query and understood your concern. As your fever has not subsided over more than a day, please see a physician for further management, since you are a nursing mother. Nimesulide is better avoided in view of the adverse effects. You may need an antibiotic if the fever does not subside in 2 days. Disprin also is preferably avoided as salicylic acid is secreted into the breast milk and can cause petechiae, fever, thrombocytopenia and anorexia in the baby. Take natural measures like tepid sponging, saline gargles, lukewarm water intake, adequate fluid balance and rest. Hope your query has been clarified. Wish you good health.
