What Measures Are Taken To Determine Treatment Of PVC's?
My husband has been taking beta blockers for 2 years because of PVC's. 2 months ago he stopped taking them after reading that many doctors don't prescribe any medication for PVC's. When he was taking medication he was extremely tired & had a low pulse rate of 40. His cardiologist has tried prescribing another beta blocker but after he reviewed the side effects he decided not to take the new medication. My question is what measure is used to determine treatment of PVC's. He has had numerous tests, the last one being an MRI of his heart with no heart decease present. He is 65 & otherwise in good health, he never smoked & maintains a healthy weight. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
I would advise your husband to have holter monitoring performed. It is an examination, during which an 24h ECG is recorded. In case PVCs are less than 400-500 there is no need for treatment. Also I would advise him to undergo coronary angiography, if there will be no coronary heart disease, then PVCs are benign and nothing to worry.
Hope I could help you
Wishing a good health to your husband
