Hello, I am an 18 years old athlete and I recently went to the doctor and he told me that my blood pressure was slightly high and that I should start tracking my blood pressure daily, which I did. I got the Omron 7series blood pressure monitor and there is a special irregular heartbeat detector. I ve been taking my blood pressure for a week now and the average is 134/85. Most of the time that I take my blood pressure, the alarm goes on and tells me that I have an irregular heartbeat. Last year, my high school team required everyone on the team to get an EKG done and my results were fine. I know that an EKG doesn t always detect angina or irregular heartbeat over a long period of time. Should I be concerned and should I contact my doctor as soon as possible? thank you for your help.
