What Leads To Disorinetation In Wisdom Teeth Growth?

I got my braces off after two years in April and I have been wearing my retainer all the time every since as I'm supposed too. However I found out that all four of my wisdom teeth are growing in crooked and now my front bottom tooth is starting to become crooked. It's that because of the wisdom teeth?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.
Thanks for your query . The symptoms you mention in query occur usually due to inadequate space in your arches . As the wisdom teeth are coming out , the space becomes lesser and lesser which is causing this problem . There could be possibility that relapse of orthodontic problem is becoming add on factor to that .

I would suggest you to consult orthodontist again . There are few options orthodontist can opt .

- First he/she can extend the period of treatment along with extraction of one or more tooth which probably happens to be wisdom tooth .

- Orthodontist can also extract one or more wisdom tooth and continue with retainer.

- Or he/she may go for extraction of all the four wisdom tooth.

The extraction of wisdom tooth can make no difference esthetically and well as functionally .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
