What Is The Treatment For Stomach Cramps And Mucous In Stools?

Hi, I have diagnosed with gastritis went onto a course of antibiotics for 2 weeks, which was 3 weeks ago and is currently on Topzole to keep my stomach alkaline. Upon finishing the antibiotics I developed a candida infection which was also treated and confirmed clear after a stool test which came back this morning. Since the candida infection I have been cutting out all dairy, yeast products and only been eating healthy vegetables and organic meat and taking probiotics twice a day. However for the last 7 days I have had severe stomach cramps in my lower abdomen, foggy brain, some headaches, feeling fatigued and excessive mucus in my stools? Is this an after effect of all the medication or something else? Thank you

Hello,
I can understand your concern for your symptoms
1) Your symptoms might be due to re-appearance of candida infection in intestine or Clostridia infection due to over-use of antibiotics.
2) Sometimes prolong use of antibiotic therapy may allow other bacteria to grow in intestine and which might cause condition known as pseudo-membranous colitis in which patient might develop diarrhea, mucus discharge and lower abdominal pain.
3) Confirmation of condition require stool routine and culture examination and sometimes colonoscopy might require.
4) You need to restart anti-fungal medication if candida would be present and specific group of antibiotics if Clostridia infection would be there.
5) You should take anti-spasmodic medication to prevent stomach cramps.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you.
Have a nice day!
