What Is The Treatment For Stinging Pain In The Left Eye?

My girlfriend is complaining of a very painful eye. It is her left eye and the left side of her eye where it is white has red veins. Her pain is when she moves her eye, open and closes her eye lid. She feels kind of a stinging throbbing feeling in her eye where the red veins are. Also very painful to touch, but overall discomfort in whole eyeball.
