What Is The Treatment For Severe Back Pain?

I was sick a week before Christmas, my back was achey and I was getting nauseous about 2 hours after eating. I thought I had the flu. I felt better for a few days and then got lower and mid back pain and burning pain under my right breast over my ribs. It feels puffy there as well. That came and went and lasted for a couple of days. I feel better now, but am unsure if i should contact my doctor anyways.
