What Is The Treatment For Severe Acne And Spots On The Face?

Hi Doctor, I have severe acne on cheeks and after consulting a doctor i have been taking isotroin pills and applying clindamycin phosphate cream two times daily. Its been one and a half month but still the breakouts happen and the previous red marks are still there. Do you think i should go for some other treatment or any other prescription? Or i should continue with this? How long does it take to get it cured? Thanks, Manas Mishra

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

You have been on the right kind of treatment for acne. Isotroin(Isotretinoin) is an oral retinoid which is one of the best drugs for acne. It can sometimes cause a flare during the early part of therapy. To suppress this flare, If I was the treating doctor, I would have added an oral antibiotic too for 4-12 weeks e.g Azithromycin as well as once daily benzoyl peroxide gel at night, while you could continue with clindamycin gel during the day.
