What Is The Treatment For Runny Nose, Cough, Gurgling While Sleeping And Vomiting Of Child?

My 3 year old son has been sick with a runny nose and cough for 3 days. This evening while sleeping he started gurgling. He woke up. Coughed a little then started vomiting huge amounts of stringy phlem. He has thrown up 2 times in about 5 minutes. He has a fever of 100.3 he's sleeping on and off for the moment with a small amount of gurgle with breathing. What do I do?

Pediatrician 's  Response
I am sorry your son is not well. The vomiting he is experiencing is known as "post-tussive" vomiting. That just means that the excessive coughing triggered the vomiting. The underlying issue could be a virus or a bacterial infection. After 3 days of symptoms in a 3 year old child, I think it's best to have him examined. It would be important for someone to listen to his lungs. I recommend consulting your doctor so the correct diagnosis can be made.
