What Is The Treatment For Runny Nose And Sneezing?

i am 42 yo woman, 184lbs. both my kids had the flu, they are 8 & 6 yo boys. i took my 6yo to the dr. and they tested for whooping cough which came back negative on Monday. still they started both of us on antibiotics, because i work in the mom baby unit. i have been sick for 5 days now. coughing, headaches ,congestion, runny nose, sneezing, unproductive cough. flem caught in my chest and when able to bring it up its very painful. the flem is yellow in color and very thick. today i finished the zirhromax that was a 5 day course. i still feel terrible and am getting concerned. is it time to see a doctor?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of runny nose and sneezing which is due to upper respiratory infection. It seems to be due to sinus infection leading to sinusitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get paranasal sinus x-ray done so as to detect level of infection and treatment can be started accordingly. You should avoid use of spicy, sharp oily and fried food substances. You should take combination of antibiotic Levofloxacin along with antihistamine such as Levocetirizine. You should do warm saline rinses 3-4 times a day. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages. Apply mist humidifiers in room. You should take throat soothing agents.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
