Hi,

I understand your concern and would explain that your symptoms could be related to inflammation. The painful knot may be an infection or a cyst. I recommend consulting with your family doctor for a physical exam and some tests:

- complete blood count
- PCR
- sedimentation rate for inflammation

A brain CT scan would help give more information on the knot and exclude possible intracranial lesions.

Hope you will find this answer helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Best wishes,
Dr. Aida
