What Is The Treatment For Little Bowel Movement?

Post Appendectomy
Im having trouble eating (getting hungry). It's been 6 days since my surgery and I still have pain, but doctor said not to take pain killers because they will constipate me. I'm having very little bowel movement. Is this normal? Also, doctor removed Jackson Pratt yesterday and removed ALL gauze bands covering the incision. Should I keep it covered or uncovered? Because I noticed blood like stains in my shirt coming from the incision as well. I need help!

Hello,
Yes, you might need to cover incision if you noticed serous discharge coming from it.
It is normal to have little movement after abdominal surgery. But you must avoid straining for defecation as it might aggravate pain at wound site.
If you have started taking normal diet after surgery and have inadequate bowel movement then you might consider to use stimulant suppository to promote movement of large intestine.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you.
Have a nice day!
