What Is The Treatment For High Platelet Count?

Hello Dr.

My husband has very high platelet count - 1,400 now. before taking siddha medicine it was only 800. This reading increased within 2 mths of taking siddha medicine. He had to be hospitalized bcos difficulty in breathing. He has black spots all over his palms and sole which burns.

Now he has stopped traditional treatment and continue with earlier medication. Plse advice

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Platelet count is too high, which can increase risk of thrombosis
2. For immediate reduction, platelet apheresis would be beneficial. It can bring the platelet count to within manageable range within 1-2 days.
3. Medication necessary for further suppression of platelet production and also to avoid thrombosis risk. Continue with other medication and discuss with your doctor regarding apheresis.
