What Is The Treatment For Headache?

fell down the stairs on Monday. Didn t knock myself out, but seen stars. The left side back of my head seemed to take the bang. But today I feel a pressure on my right side temple. I feel ok in myself apart from headache and neck hurting, bit after the fall I expect that. I did see my doctor and he said I didn t fracture my skull, but I was pretty spaced out Thank you

Hello!

Thank you for your question on HCM!

I read your question and understand your concern.

I would like to explain that even if you heat your head in the left side, it is normal to have headache in the right temple.

It is caused by the contractions of the head muscles ( called also tension type headache or post concussion headache). Another reason is that the brain is floating inside the cerebrospinal fluid inside your skull. When you heat your head to one part, the brain moves into the opposite part, into the skull bones. So it can be damaged in two opposite parts (called also countre-coup lesions).

I would recommend some painkillers and a lot of rest for some days. It is necessary to avoid straining physical activity and any other trauma.

Hope to have been of help!

Best wishes,

Dr. Aida
