What Is The Treatment For Fatigue?

Hi, I m 19 years old and I have recently been plagued by some kind of fatigue. I ve never had this before, I can sleep 10 hours and still be a little tired during the day. It s not up to the point where I can t stand the fatigue, but I feel like I can take a nap in every moment of the day without problem, something I wasn t capable of doing before.

Thanks for your question.

Fatigue is a very nonspecific complaint, meaning it is a symptom of many possible problems. Fatigue could be caused by something as simple as poor sleep hygiene, to something as complicated as an autoimmune disease.

You should visit your primary care physician for a more complete exploration of your problems. Are you getting enough sleep? Are you feeling depressed? Are you constipated? Are you getting enough to eat? Does anyone in your family suffer from similar problems? These are some basic questions they may ask you. They may also perform basic bloodwork to check for things like anemia, electrolyte imbalances, or thyroid abnormalities. Hopefully with some more information a doctor can help you address this problem.

I hope this helps,

Dr. Sheppe
