What Is The Treatment For Bleeding During Pregnancy?

Hi Doc. In the past i have had issues of prolonged Menstruation. I am comfirmed 8 weeks pregnant, i have been bleeding daily for the past 2 weeks. I went to the hospital to do a scan, and was told my baby was okay. How can i stop this bleeding? Should i take Primulut N? will it affect my baby?

Hello dear,I understand your concern. In my opinion the bleeding in pregnancy can be due to thyroid abnormalities, progesterone insufficiency, bleeding from cervix or low lying placenta etc.Consider getting thyroid profile to rule out thyroid abnormalities. As ultrasound is normal nothing to worry.Mostly it might be cervical bleeding.Primolut N is not advised in pregnancy.Antifibrinolytics can be taken to decrease the bleeding after discussing with your doctor.
Avoid physical strain and intercourse.Take bed rest.Take iron rich diet and iron supplements.Dont worry it will subside spontaneously and many cases like this progress to term with good outcome. So relax.Progesterone supplements are also advisable.
Best regards...Dr.Srilatha
